Donkey Kong 64 is a 1999 platform game for the Nintendo 64 developed by Rare and published by Nintendo. It is the first three-dimensional game in the Donkey Kong series. The player, as the gorilla Donkey Kong, explores themed levels in order to collect items and rescue his kidnapped friends from King K. Rool.
The game includes a special three-level demo. A small amount of beta content is present.
Many video game retailers, such as Wal-Mart and Toys R’ Us, used to have kiosks in their stores. These allowed gamers to test out games before purchasing them. These Nintendo 64 store kiosk games are known as Not For Resale carts. You’ll always recognize a Not For Resale cart because it has the text “Not For Resale” written on it. Some cartridges would also have a sticker on the back for the store to fill out.
Not For Resale cartridges special because they were supposed to be returned to Nintendo or thrown out once the store finished with them. Many have survived and become collectibles. Some of the cartridges will be different from the final version and will contain demo content. The following is a list of all known NFR carts:
