The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is an action-adventure game for the Nintendo 64 developed and published by Nintendo. It was released in Japan and North America in November 1998, and the following month in PAL regions. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the first game in the series to feature 3D graphics.
Many video game retailers, such as Wal-Mart and Toys R’ Us, used to have kiosks in their stores. These allowed gamers to test out games before purchasing them. These Nintendo 64 store kiosk games are known as Not For Resale carts. You’ll always recognize a Not For Resale cart because it has the text “Not For Resale” written on it. Some cartridges would also have a sticker on the back for the store to fill out.
Not For Resale cartridges special because they were supposed to be returned to Nintendo or thrown out once the store finished with them. Many have survived and become collectibles. Some of the cartridges will be different from the final version and will contain demo content. The following is a list of all known NFR carts:
