Capcom developed and published Mega Man X?for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It was the first Mega Man game for the 16-bit console and the first in the Mega Man X series, a spin-off of the SNES’s predecessor, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Mega Man X debuted in Japan on December 17, 1993, and in North America and Europe the following year. Mega Man X is set a century after the original Mega Man series in a futuristic world populated by humans and “Reploids,” robots that think, feel, and grow like humans. Due to these complex traits, many Reploids are “Mavericks” and destructive. The game follows android “Maverick Hunter” X. X and Zero must stop Sigma, a powerful Maverick leader, from exterminating humans.
